Staff Feature: Dimity Boggs
Our staff feature for the month of April is Dr Dimity Boggs.
Dimity initially joined Wheatbelt NRM (WNRM) in 2013 as a Geographic Information System Support officer and is now our Sustainable Agriculture Project Manager.
Born and raised in the Wheatbelt, Dimity’s life goal has always been to apply her education to protect the beautiful country and community that raised her.
“Working at Wheatbelt NRM is like being a farmer, you have to be a jack of all trades, adaptable, resilient and willing to learn,” Dimity said.
She said her work philosophy is to aim as high as you can manage today, but to not let ‘perfect’ get in the way of ‘good’.
One of her favourite aspects about working with the team at Wheatbelt NRM is that everyone is dedicated to the cause.
“Nobody here is just doing a job, they are living it,” Dimity said.
During her career Dimity said the best piece of advice she was given was from University of Western Australia’s Earth and Geographical Sciences Senior Honorary Faculty Fellow Arthur Conacher being that there are “no such thing as environmental problems, only people problems”.
Dimity said she remains motivated and focused when things get challenging at work by remembering she was born lucky.
“I have no excuse to give up when everything is working in my favour,” Dimity said.
She said Wheatbelt NRM has taught her that honest conversations are more productive than looking good.
One thing many people may not know about Dimity is that she is a non-drinker and that this is her ‘super-power’.
When unwinding after a long day Dimity enjoys running a trail, walking in the bush with her husband and dog and watching ABC crime.
