Workshops will be held 10-11 June in Bruce Rock and 25-26 July in Merredin. The 2-day workshops aim to foster self-awareness, community engagement, resilience, leadership skills, and the ability to create positive change while considering diverse perspectives and community well-being.

They follow on from the highly successful first workshop held in September last year. Those who participated reported getting a great deal out of the experience. While ideally participants complete the workshop series, it is not essential, so if you missed out last year you should still register this year. Participation is free.

The workshops are being run across Australia in communities selected by the Foundation for Regional and Rural Renewal (FRRR) for the Future Drought Fund Community Impact Program. In 2023 the Central Eastern Wheatbelt was funded under this Program. The Australian Regional Leadership Foundation (ARLF) is rolling out the workshops.

A number of community organisations from the region also received grants through The Community Impact Program, which provides social support for communities through the Future Drought Fund.

The Community Impact Program recognises the need to strengthen and improve the ability of agriculture dependent communities to adapt, reorganise or transform in response to changing climate. This is done by investing in projects that look to strengthen social and community networking, support, engagement, and ultimately wellbeing.

Wheatbelt NRM is proud to be the lead organisation for this social initiative that supports vibrant Wheatbelt communities. Details of the events will be provided closer to the dates. For further information contact Wheatbelt NRM project officer Aimee Ray on 0420 363 052 or aray@wheatbeltnrm.org.au
