The Australian Government has just released its Threatened Species Prospectus which is the next step in its new approach to reversing the declines in our native plants and animals.

The Threatened Species Prospectus invites business, industry and philanthropic sectors to join in the battle to prevent further extinctions.

It includes more than 50 projects that have been scientifically assessed by the Threatened Species Commissioner, in consultation with passionate and hardworking Australians who are saving species on the ground across the country.

Many of the project proposals featured in the prospectus involve volunteers from community groups, including Landcare and ‘Friends of’ groups, whose work you have the opportunity to support and strengthen.

These groups often work in partnership with regional natural resource management organisations across Australia, supported by the Australian Government’s National Landcare Programme.

These regional NRM organisations provide well-tested project delivery services and robust governance arrangements that help ensure success. In addition, co-investment opportunities exist through Australian Government programs such as the new Threatened Species Recovery Fund.
