Rangers give a helping hand to the Friends of the Dale River

Successful in the recent Healthy Soils Healthy Rivers grants, the Friends of Dale River are planning a revegetation project adjacent to the Reserve Pool in Westdale.

This freshwater pool on the Dale River is an important site valued by the community and the local biodiversity throughout the harsh Wheatbelt summer.

Wheatbelt NRM’s Noongar Boodja Rangers were out on site last week to give this community group a helping hand with some site preparation work.

Our chainsaw qualified rangers were able to clear the fence line of branches and debris and started the difficult task of Juncus (Spiny Rush) removal.

The Ranger team does not receive any core funding and their work on this job was supported through the Healthy Soils Healthy Rivers program.

The Noongar Boodja Rangers can undertake a range of tasks including weed control, site preparation and tree planting and can quickly mobilise a crew ready to tackle any job across the region.

For more information on the Noongar Boodja Rangers and how they can help you out please contact Jermaine Davis on 9670 3116 or jdavis@wheatbeltnrm.org.au.
