Aboriginal NRM

Wheatbelt NRM’s Noongar Elders advisory group, Aboriginal NRM staff and Noongar Boodja Rangers are holding a yarning circle at Northam Senior High School on the 28th of June for NAIDOC. This year’s theme is ‘For Our Elders’ and the idea of the yarning circle is to form a cross generational platform between Noongar Elders and Students to generate conversation in a space of Noongar culture that is starting to go extinct (The passing on of Noongar knowledge, traditions and customs), NAIDOC Generational Engagement Elders – Story Telling activity’.

Once the yarning circle wraps up Noongar Elders and other community members will move on to the Katrine Pool Massacre site to reflect on Noongar History in the region and then end the day with a bush tucker lunch.

This National NAIDOC Week Activity is funded by the National Indigenous Australians Agency.
