Local governments to benefit from drought program combating pests and weeds

Wheatbelt NRM has been talking to some of our member local governments to share a funding opportunity many of them weren’t aware of.

The Australian Government is inviting local councils via a restricted competitive process to apply to deliver projects under the Communities Combating Pests and Weed Impacts during Drought Program.

A small number of Wheatbelt Shires are eligible for this grant as they are considered to be in drought. This includes Quairading, Lake Grace, Corrigin and Bruce Rock.

We are keen to work with local governments and especially our member organisations to see if we can bring some important pest funding to WA. The objectives are to stimulate economic activity, including employment, increase farm business profitability and contribute to landscape-scale biosecurity action.

Grants close 8.00 pm on 5 February.
