Recognition for Farmers! Do you know a soil health champion?

Sustainable Agriculture

Wheatbelt NRM would like to celebrate and recognise the hard work farmers put into managing the most fundamental resource of our region – SOIL!  Since 2013 six Wheatbelt Farmers have been recognised as Soil Health Champions, and the time has come again to nominate for the 2025 Soil Health Champion.

What makes a Soil Health Champion?
Nominees are farmers who have adopted methods to improve the health of their soils.  They may also have spent time monitoring and measuring the impacts of the practice change. Maybe they have spent time demonstrating to other farmers some readily achievable and economically viable methods.  Through sharing of their knowledge, they may have inspired other farmers to try new things.  Overall, they may be a leader in sustainable agricultural practices in the farming community, local community and broader networks.

What does Wheatbelt NRM want from you?
Do you know a farmer who fits some or all the description above?
Please nominate them for the 2025 Soil Health Champion for Wheatbelt NRM.  You may also nominate yourself. Nominations can be made by completing this nomination form: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/TSH2025

What does it involve?
The successful nominee will be required to attend Talkin’ Soil Health Conference 2025 in York on Thursday March 13th, 2025.  A short video will be made on their farm, which will be shown at Talkin’ Soil Health.  The nominee will also be required to attend the Cocktail Party at Faversham House, York, for the presentation ceremony, where the winners will be announced from each NRM region from around the State.

If you or someone you know meets the above criteria, please send us a nomination using the above link.

The Talkin’ Soil Health Champion is supported by funding from the Western Australian Government’s State NRM Program.
