Even though results are still coming in, so far the following have been identified:

  • 11 reptile/frog species (including Jan’s Banded Snake, Southern Blind Snake, Turtle Frog
  • 9 mammal species (including (Echidna, Red-tailed Phascogale, Brush-tailed Possum, Western Mouse (confirmed through collections of chewed Quandong nuts*)
  • Evidence of numerous cats, foxes and rabbits were also found
  • Over 200 species of plants (yet to be confirmed including a number of threatened and priority flora) – Lists are still being compiled by botany leaders.
  • And over 100 species of insect (to be confirmed).

*Note: This is the only species in the area that chews Quandong nuts and eats them under dense bushes forming middens of 2-300 nuts.

Stay tuned for the official report which will be released later this year.
