Home Is Where The Food Is – Notham, York and Toodyay

Do you live in Northam, York, Toodyay or surrounding Shires and want to help Carnaby’s Black-Cockatoos?

Information provided by residents in these Shires has helped us to identify five Carnaby’s nests, taking us to 35 known local nests across the Wheatbelt (one of which is home to the chick that was hatched just before Christmas). This has improved our knowledge of where we should target conservation activities to improve breeding success for Carnaby’s Black-Cockatoos.

Whether you’re in town or out on a farm, you can support the Black-Cockatoos that visit the region by planting food and habitat plants for future generations. We’ve put together a list of native food and habitat plants for your region that they will love!

Carnaby’s Black-Cockatoos are also spending much of the year in the Western reaches of these Shires, so any additional food supplies you are able to provide will be greatly appreciated.

This project is supported by funding from the Australian Government’s National Landcare Program.
