A Lotterywest grant will support community members and volunteers across Western Australia to participate in the upcoming State Natural Resource Management (NRM) and Coastal Conference on 29-31 August 2017.

Dr Garry Middle, chairman of the conference organising committee, announced the opportunity for subsidised conference registration for people who volunteer or work in community and not-for-profit landcare, coastcare, NRM, environment and sustainable agriculture.

“Thanks to Lotterywest, this grant will reduce barriers for not for profit community members and volunteers, especially those located in regional and rural WA, who play an active role in natural resource management and coastcare, to attend the conference and share their stories,” Dr Middle said.

“Working in tandem for WA’s environmental future, NRM and coastal experts, managers, practitioners, community members and volunteers will meet over three days and share knowledge and experiences around the conference theme of ‘Adapting in a changing world’.”

Usually held separately every two years, this is the first combined natural resource management and coastal conference, which will connect people with shared interests and passion in WA’s changing natural world.

The conference will also feature the presentation of the 2017 WA Landcare Awards and the 2017 WA Coastal Awards for Excellence.

The conference organising committee comprises the Department of Planning, NRM WA, State Natural Resource Management Program, Western Australian Local Government Association and the WA Planning Commission.
