Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

About Wheatbelt NRM: Wheatbelt NRM is a prominent leader in environmental conservation and sustainable resource management, located in the vibrant Wheatbelt region of Western Australia.

We are dedicated to making a positive impact on our natural environment and are in search of an inspired and strategic Acting CEO to propel our organisation through an exciting phase of growth and transformation. Role Overview: In this crucial role, the Acting CEO will not only steer the organisation through strategic developments and operational enhancements but also play a key role in maintaining and amplifying financial integrity and team cohesion. This position offers the chance to lead with vision, drive excellence in all operational facets, enrich stakeholder relations, and cultivate a supportive and dynamic workplace culture.

Key Responsibilities:

- Direct and enhance the organisation’s operations to align with strategic goals while ensuring robust financial oversight and efficiency.

- Forge strong partnerships with government stakeholders to align our conservation efforts with public policies.

- Actively engage with the community to promote and advance environmental initiatives.

- Lead financial strategy and management, emphasizing sustainable growth and fiscal responsibility.

- Drive project delivery with a focus on achieving strategic objectives and maintaining financial health.

- Foster a cohesive team environment, promoting collaboration, professional development, and high performance across all levels of the organisation.

- Represent Wheatbelt NRM at public events and through various media engagements, serving as the face of our financial and environmental stewardship.

Qualifications and Selection Criteria:

- Extensive leadership experience in management or a related field, with a particular emphasis on financial acumen and/or natural resource management.

- Proven track record in successfully managing and delivering complex projects with financial integrity.

- Strong strategic financial management skills, with the ability to oversee budgets, drive financial planning, and ensure resource allocation aligns with organisational goals.

- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to build and maintain cohesive and effective teams.

- Interest in environmental conservation and the implementation of sustainable practices.

- Relevant tertiary qualifications or significant industry experience equivalent.

- Experience in Aboriginal engagement desired but not essential.

Terms and Employment Details: This is a temporary position with potential for permanency based on organisational needs and individual performance.

- The commencement date for the successful candidate is targeted for on or around 24 June 2024.

Location: Based in Northam, 80 km east of Perth. Flexible working arrangements are open for discussion and potential negotiation.
