Perennials have several potential benefits to farming systems on unproductive, sandy soils and provide year-round ground cover, protecting the fragile soils from wind erosion events. Subtropical perennials have been trialled as part of the Evergreen project in the Northern Agricultural Region, which promotes the uses of perennial pastures in production systems.
