Wheatbelt NRM is pleased to announce the appointment of a new CEO to lead the organisation into the next phase of development.

Debra Rule, Chair of Wheatbelt NRM today announced the appointment of Dr Karl O’Callaghan as CEO.

Debra said, “After an extensive recruitment process the Wheatbelt NRM Board is delighted to secure Dr O’Callaghan for the role“.

Dr O’Callaghan is a high profile appointment following his previous role as Commissioner of Police for Western Australia, a position he held for 13 years.

With his commitment to sustainable community development and considerable experience in enhancing rural and regional WA, Karl will bring some amazing experience to Wheatbelt NRM.

Debra added, “Karl’s high profile and reputation will enable us to showcase the incredible work of this organisation and enable our story to be heard by a wider range of stakeholders and potential partners.”

“His skills, experience and leadership abilities will ensure Wheatbelt NRM continues to engage the community and the region in creating a vibrant and healthy environment.  We are very excited to have Karl join the Wheatbelt team.” 

Dr O’Callaghan is looking forward to returning to the Wheatbelt, his first executive appointment in the WA Police was as the District Officer for the Wheatbelt, so he knows the region well.

Dr O’Callaghan will commence in late July.
