Living Lakes Project in Transition

Posted in:
Water

The construction phase of the Living Lakes project is nearing completion with the last bit of work at Lake Ewlyamartup in Katanning.

Now the project moves into the community activation phase.

This Royalties for Regions supported project was designed to drive regional economies though improving tourism opportunities.

The construction work aims to keep water in the lakes for longer with improved water quality.

The next stage will work with the community to improve the amenity of the areas and develop them for community and visitor use.

The community groups are reviewing Destination Marketing Plans which aim to identify constraints and opportunities to increase visitor numbers at the Lakes.

Next landscape architects will look to develop foreshore improvements to complete the work.

Last week we planted 1100 seedlings with the help of the Ngoolark Rangers from the Badgebup Aboriginal Corporation just to get things started.

We aim to have the foreshore improvement work completed by June 2020.
