Red Card Roundup

Wheatbelt NRM proudly supports the Statewide Red Card for Rabbits and Foxes program - a community based feral animal control program with almost 1000 people across south west WA participating in autumn 2020 culling over 6000 pest animals.

Key supporters of Red Card met in Northam last week to celebrate the success of the 2019/20 program.

A major partner is the Sporting Shooters Association of Australia (WA). They continue to donate $5 per pest culled to the Regional Men’s Health Initiative (RMHI) to support their work in raising awareness of men’s health and wellbeing in regional WA.

The Sporting Shooters Association President Ron Bryant said. “This year has as we all know, been a testing time for all and the overall tally was well down to previous years. SSAA WA made a decision to top up the donated amount going to the Regional Mens Health Initiative to $20,000 to help make sure in these telling times that this initiative receives our combined support.”

The RMHI is passionate about raising awareness of issues facing men in regional, rural and remote communities and this donation will support their Working with Warriors initiative.

The stats:

  • 970 people participated
  • 3720 foxes culled
  • 182 feral cats culled
  • 2615 rabbits culled

An amazing effort despite the impact of Covid-19.
