The third Emission Reduction Fund auction was held at the end of April and the results have now been released.

The auction saw 50.5 tonnes of abatement contracted from 73 projects that were registered with the Clean Energy Regulator.

The average price paid has fallen to $10.23 per tonne of CO2-e; each auction has seen the price fall. Key projects within WA that were successful in the auction include:

  • Goldfields Carbon Group project in the Shire of Leonora, Menzies and Kalgoorlie/Boulder. This contract secured 3.9m t CO2-e.
  • Biodiverse Carbon Conservation project in the Shire of Jerramungup. This contract secured 10,000 t CO2-e. Both of these projects are using revegetation methods.

There will be a forth auction held later this year, so if you are looking to participate, register your project early, it takes longer than you think.
