Wheatbelt NRM offers the Moorditj Boodjar Environmental Award for Students annually to primary and secondary schools throughout the Avon River Basin with winners receiving a hardcover copy of Wildlife in Australia and a ‘Certificate of Merit’ presented by a member of the Wheatbelt NRM team. Moorditj Boodjar means ‘awesome’ or ‘strong’ country in the Noongar language and recipients of the award often embody these values through their involvement in environmental projects, such as school community gardens. This year we have a twelve schools taking part across the region, including:

  • Beverley District High School
  • Bolgart Primary School
  • Brookton District High School
  • Corrigin District High School
  • Meckering Primary School
  • Narembeen District High School
  • Pingelly Primary School
  • Quairading District High School
  • St Mary's Primary School (Merredin)
  • Tammin Primary School
  • Woodthorpe School (Cunderdin)
  • York District High School.
Well done to all students who will be receiving their awards over the next few weeks. Remember that you are the future custodians of the Wheatbelt!
