Aboriginal NRM

We are kicking off 2022 with a renewed focus in Aboriginal NRM.

An employee’s choice to move on isn’t usually a cause for celebration but it is when they are a Noongar Boodjar Ranger. The Rangers were established to develop work-ready employees that can move onto bigger opportunities.

This is the kind of project that really excites us. We are currently working alongside one of our members with a shared vision for natural resource management – all while supporting our Noongar Boodjar Rangers.

Our Noongar Boodja Rangers recently returned to Aldersyde, near Brookton, for the ‘Biodiverse Sandalwood Project’.

As this year’s National Reconciliation Week (NRW) comes to an end, we’d like to celebrate this year’s theme of “Be Brave. Make Change” and continue the journey of reconciliation.

Collecting seed may seem like an easy process, and it is true, anyone can walk along and pick it off a tree, however as our Noongar Boodja Ranger team develop a growing seed enterprise they are focused on ensuring we meet industry standards for seed collection.
Licencing, provenance, species ID and record keeping are our focus. We want all clients to be confident in the product we supply and having quality systems in place which supports that.

Our Noongar Boodja Rangers have been busy assisting AGT (Australian Grain Technologies) with the removal of weeds and diseased plants in a lupin breeding trial, conducted in Bolgart.

Recently our Noongar Boodja Rangers team was involved in training new rangers on how to identify and record flora. They visited a reserve at Kokeby, where they learnt how to identify plants through the soil they're in, the shapes of their leaves, size of the plant and its fruit. It's vital that we are accurate when seed collecting for our revegetation projects. Find out more here.
