The 2019/20 State Budget bought some exciting news for the Toodyay Naturalist Club and many other community groups with the announcement of a budget commitment to the creation of a new National Park at the Helena Aurora Ranges (Bungalbin in the local language).

Wayne Clark, secretary of the Nats said,

"The Toodyay Naturalists' Club have had a special interest in the Helena Aurora Range - Bungalbin - particularly in the last thirty years. Members have visited the range on many occasions and have promoted this last vestige of unique banded ironstone range as a significant part of Western Australia's natural heritage. The club campaigned strongly with the previous government and the current government (in opposition) to have the range declared a national park.”

This is an amazing and unique part of our Great Western Woodlands and the Toodyay Nats and the other groups who have worked for this for many years should be congratulated. Their perseverance and commitment has led to this great outcome for our environment.
