National Tree Day

Twenty-eight year 5/6 students from Toodyay DHS participated in a small tree planting event on Planet Arc’s National Tree Day this July.

The students planted 70 native plant seedlings that were grown locally and donated by the Toodyay Seed Orchard. Glen Day the school gardener dug a corridor of holes across the campus for the students to create a link between the Avon River and the Toodyay recreation centre site behind the school.

Next year, Toodyay DHS will team up with the Toodyay Friends of the River to extend and connect this planting around the rec centre site.

The event was also supported by Avon Valley Toyota, a major sponsor of the National Tree Day, who supplied the kids with shirts and gloves to protect their uniforms while they were planting.
