Knowledge Hub – Rabbit control wheel

Healthy Environments

As part of our role of sharing knowledge with our community we are highlighting some of the valuable information resources you can find in our Knowledge Hub on our web site.

As we hear more reports of rabbit numbers increasing this rabbit control wheel developed several years ago by DBCA came to mind.

This ‘wheel’ helps you identify appropriate control activities during different times of the year.

At this time of the year, rabbits are breeding and dispersing, actually except for the summer months they seem to breed all the time!

If you’re keen on baiting have a look at these bait stations you can purchase from our Online shop, which will help protect non-target species.

Another control option that is relatively new is spreading the Calicivirus - Rabbit Haemorrhagic Disease Virus (RHDV). If you have a good number of rabbits and can commit to monitoring the impact we may be able to help you access some of the virus to spread around.
