Following on from the popular April workshop,
Dr Jolene Otway will facilitate the SWARM tool for estimating soil carbon using a local farm.
SWARM is a user-friendly, Microsoft Excel© based tool for estimating soil carbon at the paddock scale without intensive sampling. It has been specifically tuned to the climate and soil influences of the South West based on the globally accepted RothC model.
The discussion and soil demonstration will include:
- Infield, low-cost sampling and analysis techniques.
- How to use SWARM to allow relative carbon mapping across a farm, regardless of the amount of laboratory analysis completed to date.
