Program:

9.30am - meet at Toodyay Shire Depot, 335 Railway Rd, Toodyay, for morning tea

10.00am - depart for Dawn Atwell Reserve

10.30am - inspect a recently burnt area in the Dawn Atwell Reserve and hear the perspectives of the Shire, the Toodyay Naturalists Club, the Dept. of Biodiversity, Conservation & Attractions and forestry practitioners. Topics for discussion include benefits of fire for biodiversity and managing wandoo for conservation, regeneration & timber.

12noon - inspect Community Nursery at Shire Depot with Bethan Lloyd

12.30pm - SWAN AGM (20mins)

12.50pm - Lunch at CWA hall, Toodyay (tbc)

1.30pm - overview of the National Mallee Fowl Recovery Program by Liz Kington

2.00pm - depart for John & Karen Hansen’s property – 365 Sandplain Rd, Toodyay

2.15pm - inspect impact of 2009/2010 wildfires and explore actions landowners can take to reduce risk of fire

4.00pm - wrap up
